The great composers of sacred music painted glorious sound worlds to inspire and uplift us. Here is music which evokes the turning of the heavens or the singing of angels, echoing the philosophy that the whole of the universe makes a wonderful music, if we could hear it. I’ve selected some of my favourite choral works, which I think come closest to capturing that ideal.
